Irish weekly earnings fell 1.6% in year to Q2 2010; Public sector employees fell 2.7% to 405,900; Private sector staff dipped 3.9%

Average Irish weekly earnings fell to €690.48 in Q2 2010, down from €701.73 a year earlier representing a fall of 1.6% over the year. This compares with a revised estimated decrease of 3.7% in the year to Q1 2010.  The total estimated number of public sector employees fell by 2.7% over the year to Q2 2010 to a level of 405,900. Private sector employment was down 3.9% over the same period.
