Irish service PMI continued to fall at sharp rate in July as recession showed little sign of easing

Irish service sector PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) data in July, signalled an eighteenth consecutive monthly fall in activity at Irish service providers as the wider recession in Ireland continued. The seasonally adjusted Business Activity Index - - which is based on a single question asking respondents to report on the actual change in business activity at their companies compared to one month ago - - posted 42.4 in July, from 42.3 in June, indicating a broadly similar decline as seen in the previous month.
