Irish service firms business activity fell at a record rate in May; New business declined at sharpest pace since October 2001

Irish service firms business activity fell for the fifth month running, at 43.9 in May. The seasonally adjusted Business Activity Index pointed to the sharpest decline in Irish service firms’ activity in the eight-year survey history. Following an earlier growth period spanning over four-and-a-half years, activity has now fallen in each month since February.
