Irish retail lobby group forecasts 400 store closures in January 2011

The decline in retail sales continued during the final quarter of 2010 according to Retail Excellence Ireland’s (REI) Irish Retail Industry Performance Review Q4 2010. Overall, December 2010 was the 34th consecutive month of retail sales industry decline. More recently, the third week in January proved to be the worst week for retail in recent years. As a result, Retail Excellence Ireland is predicting that over 400 retail stores will close during January 2011.
