Irish new private cars licensed in December fell 28.9%; Sales plunged 63% in 2009 to the lowest since 1987

There were 474 new private cars licensed in December 2009, compared with 667 in December 2008, a decrease of 28.9%. The data show show that the number of new cars licensed in the full year  fell by almost 63% compared with 2008, according to the CSO. The figure is the lowest since 1987.
