Irish Manufacturing PMI signalled record deterioration in business conditions, with output and employment both contracting at the second-sharpest rates in the ten-year survey history. Moreover, at 43.4, from 44.7, the seasonally adjusted NCB Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) – an indicator designed to provide a single figure measure of the health of the manufacturing industry – fell to a survey record low, reflecting a similar fall in the new orders component.
