Irish Live Register: Unemployment rate in September down to 14.3%; Ratio of numbers in employment to claimants lowest since 1993

Irish Live Register: The standardised unemployment rate in September 2011 was 14.3%, down slightly from a rate of 14.4% in August. The latest seasonally adjusted unemployment rate from the Quarterly National Household Survey was 14.2% in the second quarter of 2011. The average unemployment rate during 2010 was 13.6%. There are now only four people in employment within the Irish economy to each Live Register claimant - -  the lowest since 1993.
