Irish Live Register: Numbers signing on in June rose 2,900 to 457,948; Slight increase to 14.2% in unemployment rate

Irish Live Register: In June 2011 there were 457,948 people signing on the Live Register representing an increase of 5,066 (+1.1%) over the year. This increase is more than that recorded in May 2011(+3,025 or +0.7%) but far less than the increase of 37,420 (+9.0%) seen in the year to June 2010. In the year to June 2009 the increase had been as high as 194,651 (+88.2%). The monthly increase was 2,900 and the standardised unemployment rate in June 2011 was 14.2%, up slightly from a rate of 14.1% in May.
