The seasonally adjusted Live Register total increased from 352,800 in February to 372,800 in March, an increase of 20,000. In the year to March 2009, there was an unadjusted increase of 173,279 (+87.5%). The unemployment rate rose to 11%, according to the CSO. Ulster Bank, says at current rate of addition, the number of claimants could reach 550,000 by the end of 2009.
