Peter Fitzpatrick, finance director of Ireland's third biggest financial services group Irish Life & Permanent, resigned in early on Friday, arising from a disclosure earlier this week that the bancassurer had put €4bn on deposit at Anglo Irish Bank on the final day of Anglo Irish’s financial year - - and hours after the State banking guarantee for six Irish financial institutions was announced. The Chairman said he “apologised unreservedly” for “mistakes.”
