Irish employment fell by 37,800 in the year to Q2 2011; Emigration jumped 16.9% to 76,400 in year to April

There was an annual decrease in Irish employment of 2.0% or 37,800 in the year to the second quarter of 2011, bringing total employment to 1,821,300. This compares with an annual decrease in employment of 2.9% in the previous quarter and a decrease of 4.1% in the year to the second quarter of 2010, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) Quarterly National Household survey, issued today. Emigration jumped 16.9% to 76,400 in year to April.
