Irish Economy: Ministers are due to brief the social partners today on what has been termed an economic "recovery" plan but leaks from the Government suggest that it comprises a list of baby-steps when there is a yearning for determined, bold and visionary political leadership. Meanwhile on Thursday, TDs and Senators will begin their 40-day Christmas break as old traditions remain immune from economic conditions that will consign more than 100,000 to the dole queue in 2009.
