Irish Economy: Green Party leader and Minister for the Environment John Gormley at the weekend said that there was a need for Ireland to create "the most comprehensive regulatory system in the world" but while he has seen a useful opportunity to jump on the passing anti-bank bandwagon, he has nothing to say on a political system of limited accountability, where the buck stops nowhere. Gormley, in fear of facing the wrath of the voters of Dublin South-East, is maintaining Cabinet colleagues in office even though they were responsible for the economy being so unprepared for a global recession and should be held accountable for effectively ruining the lives of tens of thousands of people.
