Davy says today that the pace of decline in economic activity has slowed down, and that January-February was the worst point in the recession. The Irish broker says it is becoming clear that the first two months of 2009 werethe most intense phase. Consumer confidence bottomed last summer: "core" retail sales are rising; survey indicators for services, manufacturing and construction have improved; and unemployment claimants are increasing more slowly.
