Irish consumer prices rose 1.7% in year to January 2010; EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices - - HICP - inflation measure was 0.2%

Irish consumer prices in January, as measured by the CPI (consumer price index), a measure of inflation,  fell by 0.2% in the month. This compares to a decrease of 0.6% recorded in January of last year. The Central Statistics Office (CSO) said today that prices on average, as measured by the CPI, were 1.7% higher in January compared with January 2010. The EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) indicated that annual inflation was 0.2% in January.
