Irish consumer prices fell 3.9% in the year to January; Annual deflation began in January 2009

Irish Consumer Prices in January, as measured by the CPI (consumer price index), fell by 0.6% in the month. This compares to a decrease of 1.7% recorded in January of last year. As a result, prices on average, as measured by the CPI, were 3.9% lower in January compared with January 2009, according to the CSO.
