Irish Consumer Price deflation accelerated in July to annual rate of 5.9%; Biggest decline since 1931

Irish Consumer Price deflation accelerated in July, as measured by the CPI. It decreased by 0.8% in the month, according to the CSO. This compares to a decrease of 0.3% recorded in July of last year. As a result, prices on average, as measured by the CPI, were 5.9% lower in July compared with July 2008. The current levels of deflation haven't been seen in Ireland since 1931.
