Operating conditions in the Irish construction sector continued to deteriorate at a rapid rate in June. The headline index from the survey, the Ulster Bank Construction Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) – a seasonally adjusted index designed to measure the overall performance of the construction economy – posted a new survey low for the third month running as it registered 29.4, from May’s 33.9. The PMI has now signalled contraction in each month since June 2007.
