Improving governance for development and in crony systems in Ireland and Japan

The World Bank has focused on improving governance for development in  recent times and has taken swift action to eliminate corruption in projects it finances. There is also a serious problem with governance in some developed countries and recently we highlighted the impact on the economies of Japan and Ireland of dominant political parties operating in systems of cronyism and nepotism, where property developers fund politicians and exert significant influence over policy.
