Honohan says banks could take stakes in homes with mortgage arrears

Patrick Honohan, the Central Bank governor, today ruled out a blanket debt forgiveness scheme, but he said a debt settlement agency could handle arrears. He also said banks were looking at shared equity arrangements with stressed mortgage holders.
