Global Manufacturing PMI rose to five-month high in March; Worst of manufacturing recession may have passed

Global Manufacturing PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) data in March, provided evidence that the worst of the global manufacturing recession may have passed. Indexes tracking trends in output and new orders rose further from the series lows registered at the end of 2008. However, both indexes remained at levels well below those consistent with an outright recovery in either component.
