Global investment in renewable energy surged to almost $150 billion in 2007 despite financial market turmoil as climate change worries, growing support from world governments, rising oil prices and ongoing energy security concerns combined to fuel another record-setting year, according to an analysis issued on Tuesday by the UN Environment Programme(UNEP). Investment in low-carbon energy has risen more than fivefold since 2004, when it stood at $33.4 billion globally.
