Germany's Construction Contraction: The German construction industry
has experienced a fundamental structural change. After the unification
construction boom in the first half of 1990s, the construction industry suffered
drastic declines in building demand in the following ten years with the number
of the employees halved since 1991 and now only two German companies are
among the top 50 construction groups in Europe.
