German ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment in October hit by financial turmoil; Economics Institutes say Economy on brink of recession

The German ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment dropped in October 2008 by 21.9 points. The indicator now stands at minus 63.0 points after minus 41.1 points in the previous month. This is still well below its historical average of 27.5 points and was impacted by the extreme financial turmoil in recent weeks.
