German manufacturing orders fell sharply in July; Two-month comparison shows rise in June/July

German manufacturing orders fell sharply in July, initial data from the economics ministry showed Tuesday. Seasonally-adjusted data for July showed new orders dropping 2.8% compared with June. However, a two-month comparison, which smoothes out volatility in the  data, showed total orders rose 1.1% in the June-July period compared with the April-May period.
