German business confidence rose from a 26-year low in April

German business confidence rose from a 26-year low in April as interest-rate cuts and government stimulus packages boosted expectations that the recession will ease later in 2009. The Ifo Institute for Economic Research, at the University of Munich, said its business climate index, based on a survey of 7,000 executives, increased to 83.7 from 82.2 in March.
