Geithner to announce US toxic asset plan for American banks with price tag of up to $1 trillion

US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will today announce a new program to handle toxic assets held by American banks, through the creation of a series of public-private investments to handle in the range of $500 billion up to as much as $1 trillion, in securities, which have been at the centre of the financial crisis.
