Eurozone wages and salaries per hour worked grew by 2.3% in year to Q1 2011; Irish costs fell 2.2%

The two main components of labour costs in the European Union are wages and salaries and non-wage costs, according to Eurostat, the EU statistics office. In the Eurozone, wages and salaries per hour worked grew by 2.3% in the year up to the first quarter (Q1) of 2011, and the non-wage component by 3.6%, compared with 1.4% and 1.8% respectively for the fourth quarter of 2010. Irish costs fell 2.2%.
