Eurozone Services showed only modest growth in August as confidence slumped to 28-month low

Eurozone Services PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) data showed only modest growth in August, as confidence slumped to 28-month low. The final Markit Eurozone Services Business Activity Index came in at 51.5, unchanged on the flash reading but down from 51.6 in July. This is the second-lowest reading since the recovery began in September 2009. The average reading so far in Q3 2011 is 51.5, well below the 55.5 average seen in Q2.
