Eurozone service and manufacturing May PMI shows rate of composite output contraction easing at record pace

The Eurozone service and manufacturing May PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) as measured by the Markit Eurozone Composite Output Index, rose to 44.0 from 41.1 in April - - a record rise in points terms for the second month running. Output has now fallen for 12 successive months, but the rate of contraction eased for the third consecutive month in May to register the smallest decline since September.
