Retail sales in the Eurozone rose for the second month running in April, according to the latest survey data from Markit. The rate of expansion eased from March’s rebound, but was solid nonetheless. Once again, of the three largest Eurozone economies covered, it was France and Germany that drove sales growth. By comparison, the Italian retail sector remained firmly in contraction. The latest survey also highlighted further marked upward pressure on retailers’ unit purchasing costs.
