Eurozone retail sales declined for second month running in June

Retail sales in the Eurozone failed to rebound in June from May’s decline, according to Markit’s latest PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index)  surveys. It was the first back-to-back fall in sales in eight months, following on from weaker Flash PMI data for the manufacturing and service sectors. Germany continued to register growth of retail sales, but France joined Italy in contraction. Meanwhile, retailer purchase price inflation eased to a five-month low, but remained sharp in the context of historical data.
