Eurozone new industrial orders fell 3.5% in May and 4.4% in the year - the steepest on an annual basis since August 2003

In May 2008 the Eurozone (EA15) new industrial orders index fell by 3.5% in the month and 4.45% in the year - the steepest drop on an annual basis since August 2003 when they slumped 5.4%. In April the index rose by 2.0%. In the EU271 new orders decreased by 4.7% in May 2008 after growing by 3.6% in April3. Excluding ships, railway & aerospace equipment industrial new orders declined by 2.5% in the Eurozone and by 2.4% in the EU27.
