Eurozone Manufacturing PMI reached a 14-month high in August

The final Markit Eurozone Manufacturing PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) reached a 14-month high of 48.2 in August, up from 46.3 in July. Although the PMI has now remained below the neutral mark of 50.0 for fifteen successive months - - the most prolonged sequence in its history - - it has recovered sharply since reaching a record low in February. The final reading was also above the flash estimate (47.9) for the fifth month running.
