Eurozone Inflation was 3.7% in May - the highest since June 1992; Food and energy price costs both accelerated

Eurozone annual inflation was 3.7% in May 2008, up from 3.3% in April. It was the highest since June 1992. In May 2007, the rate was 1.9%. Monthly inflation was 0.6% in May 2008. Food-price inflation rose to 6.4% in May from 6% in April, while energy prices rose 13.7% from a year earlier, up from a 10.8% increase the previous month.
