Eurozone annual inflation plunged to 1.6% in December 2008

Eurozone annual inflation is expected to be 1.6% in December 2008 according to a flash estimate issued by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union. It was 2.1% in November. The plunge in prices, boosts the scope for the European Central Bank (ECB) to cut interest rates from the current level of 2.5%.
