European car sales fell 7.9% in June; Irish sales tumbled 48.7%

European car sales fell 7.9% in June on higher fuel prices and a slump in demand spreading north from Spain and Italy. Japanese automakers led the declines. Irish sales tumbled 48.7% from 15,399 units in June 2007 to 7,907 units in June 2008.
