Eircom to shed 1,200 jobs; Dublin Airport Authority seeking up to 400 voluntary job losses

Eircom, the former Irish State telco, announced on Tuesday, that it has reached an agreement with union representatives on "stage one of the company’s restructuring programme," providing for 1,200 job cuts and voluntary pay reductions of between 5% and 10%. Meanwhile, the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) is seeking up to 400 voluntary job losses and other cost cutting measures targeted at saving €55 million.
