Economist welcomes rising bond spreads as excellent news; Irish 10-year bond yields were below German benchmark level in 2007

An economist at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington DC welcomed rising peripheral bond spreads as excellent news in the week the yield (interest rate) on Irish 10-year sovereign bonds hit a record spread of 380 points (3.8%) above the benchmark German bund. In July 2007 the Irish yield was below the German level.
