The European Central Bank (ECB) quarterly bank lending survey (BLS) shows that during the first quarter of 2010, a tightening of credit standards and a decrease in loan demand was reported for loans to enterprises and households by Irish banks. Similar to the January 2010 round of the BLS, access to wholesale funding markets is reported to have eased or remained unchanged with this pattern expected to continue during the second quarter of 2010.
