Downturn in Eurozone manufacturing deepened as production and new orders posted sharpest losses since late-2001

The downturn in the Eurozone manufacturing sector took a turn for the worse in September. Operating conditions deteriorated to the greatest extent since the immediate aftermath of 9/11, as a sharp retrenchment in the level of incoming new orders led manufacturers to scale back production and reduce headcounts.
