Cowen warns of IMF rescue for Irish economy: Announces in Japan contracts and agreements for “new” export sales valued at €46m

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen T.D. has warned in Tokyo during an Irish trade mission to Japan, that the IMF (International Monetary Fund) may have to be called on to rescue the economy, if the situation continues to worsen. Also on Wednesday, he announced that contracts and agreements for what are termed new export sales valued at €46m have been concluded by Irish companies during this week’s Enterprise Ireland trade mission to Japan. The mission is being led by the Taoiseach with Minister for Agriculture Brendan Smith T.D. and Minister for Trade and Commerce John McGuinness T.D.
