Coughlan launches industry innovation group; 9% of Science Foundation Ireland supported 2007 PhD graduates went to work in Irish-based businesses

Tánaiste Mary Coughlan T.D., on Sunday launched the IRDG Enterprise Innovation Network (EIN). Established by the Industry Research and Development Group (IRDG), with funding from Enterprise Ireland, the Enterprise Innovation Network will promote R&D to companies of all sizes in Ireland. IRDG plans to significantly increase the number of companies supported by IRDG over the lifetime of the EIN which runs from 2009-2012. Meanwhile data shows only 9 per cent of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) supported PhD graduates in 2007, went to work in science and engineering businesses.
