Bank of Ireland reports lower H1 2011 losses on reduced bad debt charges

Bank of Ireland today reported a H1 2011 underlying loss before tax of €723m compared with €1.32bn the same time last year. It posted a net loss of €507m, after a year-earlier net profit of €143m due to one-off gains. Bad debt charges fell in the latest period to €842m from €1.08bn a year earlier.
