Average Irish weekly earnings fell to €682.91 in Q1 2010, down from €709.55 a year earlier representing a fall of 3.8% over the year. This compares with a revised estimated decrease of 0.4% in the year to Q4 2009. The fall in weekly earnings reflects the decrease in both paid hours (-2.2%) and average hourly earnings (-1.5%) over the year. Jobs in industry are down 21,000 on Q4 2008 and 50,000 down in construction.
