Average Irish national house prices fell by 1.0% in March 2009; Down 10.0% in 12-month period; National prices now back to November 2004 levels

Average Irish national house prices fell by 1.0% in March 2009, according to the latest edition of the Prmanent tsb / ESRI House Price Index. This compares to reductions in February (-0.8%), January 2009 (-1.4%) and December 2008 (-0.9%). Measuring the rate of growth in the 12 months (year on year) to March, national prices were down by 10.0%. This compares to a decline of 9.7% recorded in the 12 months to February 2009. In the first three months of 2009 national house prices have fallen by 3.1% which compares to a reduction of 2.2% in the same period in 2008. National prices now back to November 2004 levels.
