Annual Irish Manufacturing Prices up 4.5% in March; US dollar movement big factor

Irish monthly manufacturing gate prices decreased by 1.0% in March 2009. This compares to a decrease of 1.6% recorded for March 2008. As a result, the annual percentage change showed an increase of 4.5% in March 2009, compared with an increase of 3.9% in February 2009. Irish manufacturing is dominated by US companies and when the US dollar fell compared with the euro, prices fell as factory gate prices rose elsewhere. It's the reverse of the coin today.
