Annual Irish factory gate/manufacturing prices rose 0.3% in July; US dollar key factor in Ireland bucking international trend

Irish monthly factory gate/manufacturing prices decreased by 0.6% in July 2009, according to the CSO. This compares to a decrease of 0.8% recorded for July 2008. As a result, the annual percentage change showed an increase of 0.3% in July 2009, compared with an increase of 0.1% in June 2009. The movement of the US dollar versus the euro is a key factor in Ireland bucking the current international trend as US firms dominate Ireland's manufacturing.
