Almost 13,900 researchers engaged in R&D in Irish business sector in 2007; No breakdown of multinational/Irish-owned firm activity

Preliminary figures indicate that in 2007 just under €1.6bn was spent on research and development activities by enterprises across all business sectors in Ireland. There were 13,900 persons engaged in Irish-based R&D.
